If anyone can claim to truly have SAP in their blood, it is Veronika Lomasow. Not only her mother, but also her fiancé and many of her former classmates – they all work in the SAP field. 'That shapes you,' summarises the current SAP consultant at SRB with a smile. SAP was repeatedly a topic of conversation – until her interest was fully awakened. When it came to her master's thesis as a business informatics student and a first IT job was on the horizon, it was clear: it had to be something with SAP.
But who gives someone without real SAP knowledge a chance to 'make it big' in this field? The answer is obvious (thanks forstopping by here on our blog) . At SRB, the potential of the Austrian with Russian-Ukrainian roots, who was born in Vienna and grew up bilingual, was evident during the interview. The logical consequence: Veronika started as a trainee at SRB in the Finance and Analytics area. Now, three years later, she has blossomed into a consultant for finance and controlling and an integral and important part of the SRB team. And SAP has become significantly more than just a topic of conversation.
The early bird catches the worm – structured and with a plan.
The fact that she already chose the path towards IT when she was still a student at HAK Vienna Business School Augarten in Vienna and consciously decided against marketing has a reason: 'Business and IT are the future and offer, among other things, stability,' says Lomasow.
She has remained true to this motto to this day. Not only in her career at SRB but also in her daily work. Approaching tasks in a structured and planned manner and extracting the best for herself and the clients – that is what matters to Veronika. Her day starts very early with a to-do list for the day, with items that are gradually worked through. Projects for which she is responsible in the finance area at SRB include, for example, SAP S/4HANA conversions, rollouts, company code mergers, or the introduction of specific tools such as the SAP Accrual Engine. Additionally, there are support activities for clients such as general troubleshooting, master data changes, or customisation.
Veronika loves the versatility of her job, the different projects, and the constantly new people. She certainly does not get bored. Internal projects also keep her busy. Currently, it is the SAP S/4HANA conversion at SRB. What she particularly appreciates about the team: the camaraderie. 'At SRB, collaboration is highly valued. It is not only fun to learn about other perspectives, but it is also reassuring to know that if I need technical support on a finance issue, I can always turn to my colleagues for help, and assistance is always there,' says the 29-year-old.
Full throttle at work, downshifting in leisure time
Just as structured as she presents herself in her daily work, Lomasow plans her future. In the next three years, she wants to complete her accounting training and reach the level of Senior Consultant at SRB. Therefore, she knows only one thing professionally: full throttle. This makes balance in her private life all the more important. Especially after a long workday – and not just during the weekly 'Beer Tuesday' with SRB colleagues.
Thus, the lasagna lover and hobby baker appreciates relaxed evenings with her fiancé on the balcony or while watching a good film. And on weekends, outings in the fresh air help clear her mind.
Slower is also Veronika's pet: a three-striped box turtle named 'Neo'. 'I also try to teach him tricks continuously. By now, I can feed him by hand and lure him onto his land area,' says the passionate turtle mum.
Currently, however, the tricks must wait. Other things are clearly higher on Lomasow's private agenda. Travelling, for example. Because the SAP consultant is drawn out into the wide world. So far, due to fear of flying, she has only travelled through Europe, but this year the first long-distance trip is planned. The Seychelles are to be the destination. A special place for a special occasion: in about a month, Veronika will marry her fiancé. Yes, the one with the SAP experience. For even more shared SAP passion.
